Dunya News sacks Senior Correspondent Faiz Paracha

Dunya News has terminated the contract of Senior Correspondent Faiz Paracha. This follows the recent dismissal of another journalist, raising concerns about management decisions.

ISLAMABAD: Dunya News has sacked Senior Correspondent Faiz Paracha (pictured), barely a month after showing another journalist the door.

No reason was cited for ousting Paracha who follows Fakhar ur Rehman, terminated last month. "I got a call from HR and they said my services are no longer required. I wasn't given any proper notice by the management, and no explanation was sought," Paracha told JournalismPakistan.com.

He was quick to point out the decision had nothing to do with his performance. "It's a simple case of victimization," he said, pointing finger at his Bureau Chief Ibrahim Raja.

Paracha joined Dunya in May from Abb Takk Television, and was pressed to join hurriedly by the managers without even serving the mandatory one-month notice period.

Meanwhile, Rehman who arrived at Dunya News in May also reportedly ran into problems with the bureau chief who it is said, intervened in his Prime Minister's beat that often put him in an awkward position.

Rehman served for 11 years at Aaj TV as Foreign Office, Defence and Supreme Court Correspondent before joining Dunya.
