ISLAMABAD: Mubarak Zeb Khan of Dawn Islamabad has been adjudged the Best Investigative Reporter in the Business/Economics category by the All-Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS).
President Asif Ali Zardari presented him the award at a ceremony at the Aiwan-i-Sadr Monday evening.
The APNS awards honor journalists, advertising agencies and those in public relations who have exceled in their respective fields.
Khan’s story that won him the award related to tax payers. It was titled ‘1.6 million of 1.7 million tax-payers are in lowest tax bracket’.
He told JournalismPakistan.com that he was delighted. “It is a great honor and I am very happy to have landed this one.”
For Khan, the honor comes at the heels of the Aghai award he bagged last month in the category of Energy/Water and Food Security.
Khan, who is from Upper Dir, has been with Dawn for almost 14 years. He has attended the Innovation Journalism Fellowship program at the Stanford University in California and did his post-graduation in global political economy from Britain’s Sussex University under the Chevening Scholarship.
Others who received the awards in journalism were Nadeem Mehmood (Best Investigative Reporter), Razia Fareed (Best Environmental Reporter), Zohra Yusuf (Best Column/English), Sardar Ahmed Pirzada (Best Column/Urdu), Ashfaq Azar (Best Column/regional language), Maqbool Ahmed (Best Feature/English), Aqeel Abass Jafiri (Best Feature/Urdu), Wahid Paras Hisbani (Best Story/regional), Umer Farooq (Best Cover Story), Zahid Rehman (Best Photographer) and Murad Ali Shah Bukeral (Best Cartoon).
