Chief justice orders notifying Wage Board chairman's appointment
The Chief Justice of Pakistan has mandated the government to issue a notification for the Wage Board chairman's appointment. Justice (Retd) Hasnat Ahmed was approved for the role, but the notification was delayed, raising concerns among media workers.

ISLAMABAD – The Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar (pictured) has directed the federal government to issue a notification of Justice (Retd) Hasnat Ahmed’s appointment as chairman of the 8th Wage Board.

Afzal Butt, President Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) during a hearing of a case related to non-payment of salaries by media houses on Wednesday, told the Supreme Court it had ordered the government to appoint the chairman by August 12.

However, Butt pointed out that despite the deadline having passed, the government had issued no notification. He said this was a matter of concern for the media workers.

On this, the Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar ordered that the notification of Hasnat Ahmed’s appointment be issued by Monday.
