Capital TV agrees to pay staff salaries by November 9

ISLAMABAD – Capital TV and Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ) on Saturday reached an agreement on payment of staff salaries and unpaid dues.

Mubarak Zeb Khan (President RIUJ), Shakeel Anjum (Secretary, National Press Club) and Malik Tahir (President, Media Workers’ Organization) met Dr. Basit Riaz Sheikh, the channel’s managing director.

In the meeting, the management agreed to pay the current salaries of staff including those of redundant employees by November 9.

For the clearance of dues, a two-member committee will be constituted. It will comprise one member representing the channel, and one from RIUJ. This body will compile data on who is owed how much money.

After reconciliation and validation of dues with the management, a report will be submitted before November 15, and a payment plan issued by Capital TV following an agreement. The payments will be settled in a couple of months.

Meanwhile, the meeting also agreed to form another committee to investigate the alleged theft of equipment by an NLE. The committee after ascertaining facts will submit its findings.

The management will also issue certificates of experience to redundant employees.
