BOL files contempt petition against Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman
BOL Media Network escalates its conflict with Jang Group by filing a contempt petition against Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman. The legal move follows previous contempt notices issued by the Supreme Court.

ISLAMABAD – BOL Media Network took its bitter war with Jang Group a step further Friday as it filed a petition in the Supreme Court of Pakistan seeking contempt action against Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman.

The petition was submitted by the channel's lawyer Dr. Babar Awan, BOL News reported.

Mir Shakil, already facing a contempt of court case, had said in response to a query outside the Supreme Court on July 25: “The judge made a disgusting remark today; if I could, I would file a case against him.”

Former Deputy Attorney General Asad Rajput has already filed an application requesting contempt of court action against the media magnate.

On July 10, the Supreme Court had issued a contempt notice to Mir Shakil, publisher Mir Javed-ur-Rahman, and reporter of The News Ahmad Noorani for publishing the story "Panama JIT ‘doesn’t find PM guilty,’ but his sons".

The story appeared in the paper the day the Joint Investigation Team was to submit its report with the Supreme Court.

The JIT probed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family for money-laundering.

Mir Shakil is the Editor-in-Chief of The News, and Mir Javed the publisher.

The next date of hearing on the ongoing contempt case against Mir Shakil is set for August 22.
