ISLAMABAD—The All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) on Saturday published advertisements about the need to combat fake news and misinformation by promoting media literacy and critical thinking.
The advertisement maintains that fighting fake news is crucial as disinformation can distort reality, leading to poor decisions on critical issues like health, safety, and voting. It warned against false health advice, which can endanger lives.
The advertisement also highlighted the dangers of misleading political information, saying it can skew public opinion and undermine trust in institutions."Beyond personal harm, fake news fuels societal division by exploiting emotions and reinforcing biases."
The ad called for supporting reputable news sources and encouraging skepticism, saying it would ensure that the information "shaping our lives is accurate, balanced, and reliable."
