Akhlaq Ahmad elected president Press Gallery of Punjab Assembly
Akhlaq Ahmad Bajwa and Hassan Ahmad were elected as president and secretary of the Press Gallery Committee. The election saw Bajwa securing 36 votes against his rival's 27.

LAHORE—Journalist Group-backed candidates Akhlaq Ahmad Bajwa and Hassan Ahmad were elected president and secretary of the Press Gallery Committee of the Punjab Assembly.

Bajwa secured 36 votes, while his rival Shahid Chaudhry of Progressive Friends and Pioneer Group got 27.

Hassan secured 33 votes while his rival candidate Farzand Ali got 30 votes.

Chairman Journalist Group Arshad Ansari and President Lahore Press Club congratulated the newly elected body and hoped it would uphold norms of impartial journalism.
