ISLAMABAD – The Azad Jammu and Kashmir government has linked allocation of advertisements by its Information Department to the payment of wages by media houses to their employees.
A notification issued Tuesday said the president of Azad Kashmir had given his approval in this regard.
Afzal Butt, President of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) praised Mushtaq Minhas (pictured), Minister for information, Tourism and Information Technology in Azad Kashmir for this journalist-friendly step. “When you were a journalist leader, you stood up to a dictator; helped establish the national press club and media town in Islamabad,” Butt said.
Not long ago, Minhas was a popular journalist but quit his career to join Pakistan Muslim League-N.
