66 newspapers given ads worth Rs1.07b by KP government in last three years
The KP government has released over Rs1.44 billion in advertisements to regional and national newspapers over the past three years. A detailed report shows Rs1.07 billion was distributed among 66 newspapers, including smaller publications.

PESHAWAR—The regional and national newspapers published from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad have received advertisements worth more than Rs1.44 billion from the KP government during the last three years (2018, 2019, 2020).

According to details submitted by the provincial information department to the KP Assembly, the directorate of information released ads worth Rs1.07 billion to 66 newspapers, including dummy papers published from Peshawar during the past three years.

Similarly, two dozen national papers published from Islamabad and Rawalpindi received ads worth Rs250 million.

The cash value of ads released to 28 newspapers published from different towns of KP was Rs100 million. Most of the newspapers published from Peshawar and other district headquarters are small-time papers having nominal circulation.

However, the statistics do not include the ads, which the departments and attached directorates directly released to different newspapers.

MPA Inayatullah Khan sought the details of advertisements through a question in the assembly.
