LAHORE—Veteran journalist Zia Shahid of Khabrain Group has died at the age of 78 following an illness.

He underwent treatment for a heart ailment at the Shaikh Zayed Hospital in Lahore for two weeks. He was editor-in-chief of Khabrain newspaper and Channel Five.During his career, he was associated with various publications.

Journalists, union leaders, prominent politicians and others have expressed shock over his demise.
