CNN's Christiane Amanpour reveals recurrence of ovarian cancer
CNN anchor Christiane Amanpour has revealed her ovarian cancer has returned but remains under control. She urged awareness about early detection and recurring cancers.

LONDON — CNN’s chief international anchor Christiane Amanpour has revealed that she is once again battling ovarian cancer, four years after her initial diagnosis. The 67-year-old British-Iranian journalist shared the news on the “Changing the Ovarian Cancer Story” podcast, as reported by the Independent.

Amanpour said her cancer is “being very well-managed” and emphasized the importance of listening to one’s body. She first disclosed her diagnosis in 2021 after a month-long absence from air, saying she wanted to help others in similar situations. Amanpour recounted how she sought medical help after experiencing persistent side pain, which led to an ultrasound revealing the cancer.

Dr Angela George, a consultant oncologist at London’s Royal Marsden Hospital, is overseeing Amanpour’s treatment. The veteran journalist encouraged greater awareness about how recurring cancers can be managed effectively.
