Amjad Aziz Malik re-elected member of AIPS executive committee
Amjad Aziz Malik, a prominent Pakistani journalist, has been re-elected to the executive committee of AIPS. This marks a historic moment as he is the first Pakistani journalist to achieve this feat twice.

PIYANG CHUNG (Korea) - Pakistan’s senior journalist Amjad Aziz Malik who bears rich contribution in sports journalism has been re-elected as executive committee member of AIPS.

The AIPS is a 125-year-old body of international sports journalists. It is for the first time in Pakistan’s history that one of its journalists has been twice elected to this apex body of global sports journalists.

In all 124 countries from across the world were in participation, 86 directly contested the election in different capacities.

Giani Marlo of Italy was elected unopposed as AIPS president for the fourth time running. Similarly, Izzat Yalmir of Turkey and Ozmak Jaura of Croatia returned unopposed as senior vice president and treasurer respectively.

Seven candidates were in the run for four seats of vice presidents and from amongst them Muhammad Hejji of Qatar, Yans Daras (Greece), Dolo Goplo (Russia) and Aivlan Vatta (Kenya) were successful.

Further, for 13 seats of the executive committee, 24 candidates were in the run. Amjad Aziz Malik bagged 75 votes and won. Apart from him, Ahmad Issa Khawari of Malaysia, Abdul Hamed Ahmadi (Iran), Takoshi Heroshi (Japan) and Hi Doan Jung ( Korea) were also in the open contest from Asia and all of them got elected with more than 50% votes.

The other successful candidates elected to the executive committee were: Ms. Sautsiz (Hungry), Datoli (Brazil), Amanial (Romania), Langus (Australia), Murad ( (Morocco), John Intonio (Spain) and Zadar Joazay ( Slovenia).
