Two Ukrainian journalists killed in Russian drone strike in Kramatorsk
A Russian drone strike in Kramatorsk killed Ukrainian journalists Olena Hramova and Yevhen Karmazin of FREEDOM TV. A third correspondent, Oleksandr Kolychev, was injured.

KRAMATORSK, Ukraine — Two Ukrainian journalists were killed when a Russian Lancet drone struck their vehicle in Kramatorsk on October 23, according to uatv.ua. The attack targeted a film crew from Ukraine’s FREEDOM TV channel, killing war correspondent Olena Hramova and cameraman Yevhen Karmazin, while special correspondent Oleksandr Kolychev sustained injuries and was hospitalized. The crew had been reporting from a gas station when the UAV hit their car.

Hramova, 43, was a seasoned journalist who had reported from the frontlines of the Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions, documenting the devastation caused by Russian attacks in her native Donetsk region. Originally trained as a financier, she turned to journalism after the onset of Russian aggression, believing it to be her true calling. In June 2023, she was awarded the Order of Princess Olga III for her courageous reporting.

Cameraman Yevhen Karmazin, 33, was also a native of Kramatorsk. He had worked for Ukraine’s state international broadcasting channels since 2021. He is survived by his wife, son, and parents.
