ISLAMABAD—Electronic media regulator PEMRA on Friday directed the TV channels to “stop live telecast of content/programme especially while covering the long march and speeches of PTI leaders.”
In case of non-compliance, the regulator warned legal action under “section 27, 29, 30 and 33 of PEMRA ordinance…leading to suspension and revocation of license”.
The notice also directed the TV channels to “refrain from airing content that tantamount to malign/disgrace state institutions (advertently or inadvertently) and to sensitize their Editorial board, Director (news and programming) bureaus and field reporters to ensure compliance to…directives.”
The notice said it has been observed that during a speech telecast today, “statements against state institutions were aired live which is in violation of Code of Conduct as well as orders of the Honorable Supreme Court.”
