North Macedonian journalist faces threats after interview clip shared

The Coalition for Women in Journalism (CFWIJ) has issued a strong denunciation of the misogynistic attacks and threats of violence directed at Lepa Djundeva, a journalist with North Macedonian news outlet 24 Vesti. The attacks surged after Bogdan Ilievski shared an excerpt from Djundeva's interview, resulting in a wave of appalling verbal abuse.

The CFWIJ's statement emphasizes the severity of the threats against Djundeva, urging for the immediate removal of the inflammatory clip to protect her well-being. This incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by women in journalism, particularly the prevalence of gender-based violence and harassment. The coalition's call to action underscores the necessity of safeguarding journalists and maintaining press freedom in the face of such hostility.

Lepa Djundeva's plight has sparked outrage among press freedom advocates, calling for stronger measures to ensure the safety and security of journalists, especially women, who are frequently targeted for their work. The CFWIJ's condemnation serves as a reminder of the urgent need to address and combat the culture of abuse and intimidation faced by female journalists worldwide.
