Masked men attack and injure Jang resident editor

MULTAN: In a disturbing incident, Zafar Aheer, resident editor of Daily Jang, fell victim to a brutal assault by masked assailants. The attack occurred on Saturday evening as Aheer was on his way home from work, a routine journey that turned harrowing when his car was intercepted near his residence.

Reports from local media detailed the terrifying ordeal: Aheer was subjected to a vicious beating, his clothes torn, and his personal belongings, including his mobile phone, forcefully taken. Shockingly, the assailants left behind bullets near his vehicle before fleeing the scene, leaving Aheer in a state of shock and disbelief.

Speaking to the press following the assault, Aheer recounted the chilling verbal abuse hurled at him during the attack. He revealed that the attackers branded him as an "Indian and Jewish agent" and accused him of betrayal, accusations that added a sinister dimension to the violence inflicted upon him.

The authorities swiftly launched an investigation into the incident, yet as of now, no arrests have been made. The assault on Aheer has sparked widespread condemnation and concern, not just among his colleagues in the media fraternity but also among advocates for press freedom and human rights.
