LAHORE — The Lahore Press Club (LPC) has barred Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed from entering its premises for his cruel remark against an ailing Geo News journalist.
According to Dawn, the journalist's colleagues had asked the minister to help the cancer-stricken Nasir, during his visit last week to the Benazir Bhutto Hospital, in Rawalpindi.
To this, Rashid reportedly said: "Para rehne do, in ka ye hi ilaaj hai." (Let him stay here, this is his only treatment).
Press club President Zulfiqar Ali Mehto and others "strongly condemned" Rashid's remarks.
The decision to ban the minister came following a call by the National Press Club (NPC), Islamabad to "show solidarity" with the ailing journalist.
The Lahore Press Club also announced a ban on covering the minister.
