Kharan Press Club shut down after threats from armed group

QUETTA –The Kharan Press Club in Balochistan has been shut down for an indefinite period, and all its activities have been postponed following threats from an armed Baloch group. The decision was made at a club meeting chaired by President Safar Khan Raskoi.
The armed group has issued threats to the club’s office-bearers and members, causing significant concern among the journalists. The meeting expressed deep concern over the threats, emphasizing the risks faced by media professionals in the region.
The House agreed to decide on a future course of action in consultation with the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), the Balochistan Union of Journalists, and the Quetta Press Club. These consultations aim to address the threats and ensure the safety and security of the press club's members.
