Dunya News reporter survives gun attack

ISLAMABAD: Politicians and journalist unions Thursday condemned an attack on Dunya News Television reporter Munawwar Allam by unidentified men and demanded the arrest of the culprits.

The journalist was attacked Wednesday night in the Gulistan Johar area in Karachi when he was returning home from work. He was fired upon but fortunately remained unharmed, reports said.

The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has called for countrywide protests to condemn the incident and urged the government to ensure the security of journalists.

The President of the Karachi Union of Journalists and politicians from different political parties also condemned the incident and expressed solidarity with the victim.

In a statement, PFUJ emphasized the urgent need for the government to take concrete steps to protect journalists, stating that such attacks are a direct assault on press freedom.
