Celebrating transparency: Winners of RTI Quiz Contest announced
The Pakistan RTI Quiz Contest 2024 winners were announced, showcasing efforts to promote transparency and accountability within governance. The initiative received 2,511 entries, emphasizing public awareness of information rights.

ISLAMABAD—The winners of the Pakistan RTI Quiz Contest 2024, jointly organized by the Pakistan Information Commission and the Press Network of Pakistan, have been revealed. The contest aimed to promote transparency, accountability, and good governance in the country.

The top five winners are: Maliha Mushtaq (Rawalakot) – 100% marks in 57 seconds Aliza Javed (Karachi) – 100% marks in 57 seconds Muhammad Mujtaba (Skardu) – 100% marks in 61 seconds Summaiya Irfan (Karachi) – 100% marks in 61 seconds Atiya Aslam (Karachi) – 100% marks in 63 seconds

A lucky draw will also be held for the remaining eligible contestants, giving them a fair chance to win.

Chief Information Commissioner Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui emphasized the importance of the right to information, as granted under Article 19-A of the Constitution. He highlighted that this right strengthens the relationship between citizens and the government by promoting transparency and accountability. He also praised the quiz for raising public awareness, particularly among students and journalists, about the Right of Access to Information Act, 2017, a key step toward building a more informed and empowered society.

The contest aimed to raise public awareness regarding the significance of the Right of Access to Information, which is a key driver for achieving the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and in particular SDG Goal 16 which promotes "just, peaceful and inclusive societies."

According to the statistics shared by the organizers, 2,511 entries were submitted from across the country, of which 49.98% were female. Many individuals residing in areas such as Burewala, Chitral, Daska, Mithi, Skardu, Quetta, and Azad Kashmir, also showed keen interest.
