Public TV takes Maleeha Hashmey off-air

ISLAMABAD—Public News TV reportedly took its anchor Maleeha Hashmey off the air.

In a tweet, Hashmey, who used to host the program Power Show, announced the channel took her off the air for refusing to criticize Prime Minister Imran Khan.

She is a known supporter of Imran Khan-led PTI. On the occasion of the previous session of the National Assembly, she was accused by the Parliamentary Reporters Association (PRA) of misbehaving with senior journalist members present at the Press Gallery and chanting slogans in favor of Imran Khan.

According to the PRA, "Nobody is allowed to chant slogans in the press gallery, but Maleeha Hashmey was involved in insulting and harassing the journalists there on Sunday."
