QUETTA: Police Monday continued their search for the killers of Dunya TV reporter Rehmatullah Abid, gunned down in Panjgur Sunday. Five suspects were taken into custody after a police raid in the Rakhsaan Nala area. Two of those arrested reportedly belong to Kalat, another two from Panjgur and one from Karachi. Abid was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle when he was at a hair-dresser’s shop in Washbood Village. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died on the spot. The late journalist also worked part-time for the Associated Press of Pakistan and a local daily Intikhab. Quetta Press Club’s President, Saleem Shahid condemned the target killing of journalists in Balochistan. He pointed out that not a single murderer had been arrested so far. Abid was the fourth journalist to be killed in the restive province this year. Eisa Tareen, who heads the Balochistan Union of Journalists, said that due to targeted killings, Khuzdar Press Club had been shut down and media persons forced to flee to other parts of the province.
