ISLAMABAD – Electronic media regulator PEMRA has filed an FIR against an individual for running a television channel illegally.
The regulator said that Malik Muhammad Yameen Awan who also brings out a newspaper named Sehar ran channels under different names (GTV, Sabz Baat, and Great).
Broadcasting by an illegal channel is a violation of Article 19 of the PEMRA Ordinance.
The FIR was lodged with the Faisal Town Police Station in Lahore.
PEMRA said it had served several notices to the channel but there was no response. It added that the organization also aired foreign content and was involved in up-linking from different locations to confuse the regulator.
