DawnNews, Dunya DSNG vans attacked, staff injured
A cracker attack on DSNG vans belonging to DawnNews and Dunya Television injured several staff members in Islamabad. The attack occurred after coverage of a political gathering.

ISLAMABAD: Staff of DawnNews and Dunya Television were injured Sunday following a cracker attack on their DSNG vans near Faizabad by unidentified men.

Cameramen, reporters, and associated staff of the channels were injured while the vans were also damaged in the attack. The channels reported that their DSNGs and staff were attacked after they were returning from coverage of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s public gathering.

Two unidentified persons lobbed the crackers on the DSNGs and fled the scene, the channels reported.

Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), leaders of different political parties, and members of civil society condemned the attack and demanded of the government to arrest the culprits.

The PFUJ has also announced protests on Monday to press the government to probe the incident and arrest the perpetrators.
