Journalists protest after minister reportedly snatches reporter's cell phone

ISLAMABAD – State Minister of Information Technology Anusha Rahman (pictured) reportedly snatched a cell phone from a journalist Wednesday who was said to be recording a video inside the Supreme Court.
The incident prompted a war of words between PML-N leaders and journalists, The Express Tribune reported.
The media persons protested the ‘harassment’ of their colleague by the minister.
Tribune said the reporters threatened to boycott coverage of PML-N daily press briefings on Panama Papers outside the Supreme Court.
Reports said the minister threatened journalist Azam Gill with 14 years in prison, and told him she would ask the Federal Investigation Agency to book him under the Cyber Crime Act.
Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique tried to cool down tempers but in vain and the reporters insisted the minister publicly apologize.
Even State Minister for Information Maryam Aurangzeb’s offer for mediation did not work.
Tribune said Rafique tried to continue with his press talk but most channels took him off air.
