ISLAMABAD – Following complaints by contesting candidates, the chairman of National Press Club election committee has ordered locking up the offices of the president and general secretary which were being used for election campaigning.
According to a notice issued by Ilyas Chaudhry who heads the polls committee, the complainants also pointed out that the former office-bearers had used the services of the club employees for a visit to the Media Enclave as part of their election campaign.
In light of these complaints, Chaudhry directed the club manager to lock the offices of the president and secretary and hand over the keys to the election committee.
He warned the manager and other employees not to support and work for any group taking part in the polls until the Election Day. He made it clear that the staff should work as directed by the election committee.
Chaudhry also sought an explanation from the club manager why he along with the employees went to the Media Enclave.
The National Press Club elections are slated for January 8.
