Ataul Haq Qasmi has been appointed chairman of Pakistan Television (PTV). He has a rich background in journalism and the arts, spanning over 50 years.

ISLAMABAD: Veteran columnist and poet Ataul Haq Qasmi has been appointed chairman of state-run Pakistan Television (PTV).

Qasmi has a had a long association with PTV as a playwright for well over three decades. He has also been an ambassador to Norway and Thailand. A recipient of Sitara-e-Imtiaz and President's Award for Pride of Performance, Qasmi has been in journalism for over 50 years.

Before his appointment at PTV, he was serving as chairman of Lahore Arts Council.
