ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly has been told that the appointment of poet and columnist Atta ul Haq Qasimi as chairman of PTV in December 2016 did not require open advertisement.
Minister of State for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Maryum Aurangzeb (pictured) told the house during question hour Thursday that the appointment did not require open advertisement in terms of Civil Establishment Code-2007.
The question was asked by MNA Zaib Jaffar who wanted to know the criteria adopted by the government for the appointment of the chairman PTV along with the terms and conditions including the salary package. She also wanted to know if the post was advertised.
The minister said Atta ul Haq Qasmi’s terms and conditions of appointment entitle him to receive a consolidated salary package of Rs 15,00,000 per month.
She added that Qasmi is an eminent literary personality with a professional background in the disciplines of poetry, drama, literature and media.
