Alfred Friendly launches 2026 fellowship for exiled journalists in America
Alfred Friendly Press Partners is accepting applications for its 2026 fellowship, a four-week program in the US supporting exiled journalists through training, community, and financial assistance.

The Alfred Friendly Press Partners, renowned for training more than 400 journalists from 90 countries over the past four decades, is now accepting applications for its 2026 fellowship program.

The four-week, in-person fellowship is tailored for foreign journalists currently living in exile in the United States. It focuses on strengthening skills and resilience across four key areas: security, legal awareness, journalism, and entrepreneurship.

Beyond professional development, the program aims to foster a supportive community among journalists navigating similar challenges in exile. Discussions on the psychosocial aspects of displacement are interwoven throughout the curriculum, beginning from day one.

Fellows will receive essential support, including housing, meals, and transportation, along with a living stipend of $2,000. English proficiency is a requirement, and all shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by the selection committee.

Applicants facing difficulties completing certain sections of the form due to their exile status are encouraged not to be discouraged. They may explain their circumstances briefly instead.

Deadline: Rolling
