LAHORE – Lahore Press Club members will go to polls on December 30, the general council meeting decided on Wednesday.

Khawar Naeem Hashmi, a veteran journalist and life member of the club, will head a five-member election committee.

President Azam Chaudhry told the meeting that the Joint Action Committee was unitedly fighting for the rights of journalists. If everyone stood united, no organization would dare to deprive workers of their due rights, he said.

He said that a summary to double the government grant for the club was likely to be approved soon.

Chaudhry pointed out that the governing body after being elected resolved the issue of B and F Blocks thereby helping hundreds of journalists fulfill their dreams of having their own houses.

He also highlighted several other measures undertaken by the office-bearers during their tenure.
