ISLAMABAD— Abdul Salam Soomro, a cameraman for Geo News who worked on Hamid Mir's show, died on Friday at PIMS Hospital after suffering a stroke. Soomro was continuously in turmoil because of his financial situation, and a few days ago, to make matters worse, he received a show-cause notice. He was also needlessly harassed while on duty, and there have been rumors that he was tormented unnecessarily when on field assignments. Soomro had captured on camera a street crime-related incident in Karachi where Rangers shot and killed a civilian. He relocated to Islamabad and joined Hamid Mir's squad after facing immediate threats to his life. He had to deal with financial limitations at this time. He was his family's only source of support.
