KARACHI—Renowned television presenter Aamir Liaquat Hussain passed away in Karachi on Wednesday.

Media reports said he was discovered unconscious at home and transported to a hospital in Khudadad Colony. However, the doctors could not resuscitate him.

Speaker of National Assembly Raja Pervaiz Ashraf verified the news of his death and postponed the session of the parliament.

Many politicians, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, former President Asif Ali Zardari, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, PPP Chairman, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, and former Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, expressed their condolences and prayed for the departed soul.

Aamir Liaquat, known for his controversial but successful television programs, was thrice named among the world's 500 most influential Muslims and Pakistan's 100 most famous individuals.

Hussain worked with PTV, ARY, Geo News, Express Group, BOL News, 24 News, and Public News in a controversy-filled television career. He rose to fame with his show 'Aalim Online' on Geo Television.

He has left behind two children.
