Pulitzer Center offers global grants for in-depth journalism
The Pulitzer Center’s Global Reporting Grants fund journalists worldwide for in-depth, underreported stories. Awards range from $5,000 to $10,000, with no topic or location limits.

The Pulitzer Center is now accepting applications for its Global Reporting Grants, which support in-depth, high-impact journalism on underreported issues worldwide. The program is open year-round to staff and freelance journalists of all nationalities, with no restrictions on topics or reporting locations, the Pulitzer Center announced.

Awards typically range from $5,000 to $10,000, covering reporting costs such as travel and safety training. Projects across all media formats—print, photo, audio, and video—are eligible. Applicants working in conflict zones must have firm assignments from outlets that assume responsibility for their safety and follow ACOS Alliance principles. Freelancers are encouraged to include Hostile Environment Training in their budgets.

Grantees are expected to provide detailed budgets and distribution plans, with half of the grant paid upon project approval and the remainder after submission of published work. The Pulitzer Center prioritizes journalists from diverse backgrounds and welcomes proposals featuring creative audience engagement strategies.

Deadline: Rolling
