PFUJ condemns murder of Aaj News reporter Hassan Zaib
The PFUJ has condemned the murder of journalist Hassan Zaib in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They demand swift action from the government to arrest the killers and ensure journalist safety.

ISLAMABAD—The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has strongly condemned the murder of Malik Hassan Zaib, a reporter for Aaj News, and called on the government to take swift action to apprehend the killers.

In a statement issued on Sunday, PFUJ President Afzal Butt (pictured) and Secretary General Arshad Ansari expressed their deep concern over the government's lack of action regarding the recent murders of journalists. Hassan Zaib was killed in the Akbarpura area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). Butt and Ansari remarked, "This is not an isolated incident. Several journalists have been murdered this year simply for carrying out their professional duties."

They emphasized that despite the government's repeated assurances to protect media personnel, this latest murder demonstrates a clear disregard for the safety of journalists, who continue to be targeted across the country.

PFUJ leaders have demanded urgent action from the Inspector General of Police in KP, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, and other relevant officials to arrest the perpetrators. "We will continue to raise this issue on all platforms and protest the government's inaction," they declared.—PFUJ media release
