New York Times opens 2025 fellowship for emerging journalists
The New York Times has announced its 2025 fellowship program, offering one-year newsroom experience, mentorship, and training for emerging journalists. Applications close on November 19, 2025.

For over a century, The New York Times has nurtured journalistic excellence, producing Pulitzer-winning reporters and shaping some of the industry’s brightest careers. Continuing this legacy, the Times is now inviting applications for its 2025 Fellowship Program — a one-year, full-time opportunity designed to train and empower the next generation of journalists.

The fellowship provides early-career reporters, editors, and visual journalists with the opportunity to work alongside some of the most respected professionals in the field. Participants benefit from newsroom experience, mentorship, feedback, and exclusive training sessions with senior journalists and guest speakers.

The goal of the program is not only to strengthen The Times’ own journalism but also to enrich the broader media landscape, as fellows often move on to leading newsrooms across the United States and beyond.

Application deadline: November 19, 2025.
