Journalist Shaheena Shaheen shot dead in Turbat
Shaheena Shaheen, a female journalist from Gwadar, was murdered in Turbat by unidentified assailants. The police have launched an investigation into the incident.

QUETTA— Female journalist Shaheena Shaheen Baloch from Gwadar was on Saturday murdered by unidentified men in Turbat.

Quoting hospital sources, Daily Pakistan said that an unknown individuals brought injured Shaheena Shaheen to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. The deceased suffered two bullet wounds. The motive behind her murder could not be ascertained.

According to media reports, the incident took place at a housing quarter in Turbat, and unidentified men left her body at a private hospital.

Meanwhile, the district police shifted the body to a government hospital for medical formalities. They have also started an investigation.

Balochistan Chief Minister, Jam Kamal Khan, condemned the attack and expressed grief. "Anti-state elements will not succeed in their nefarious plans," he said.

Freedom Network and journalists condemned the killing. FN, in a tweet, called for bringing the perpetrators to justice. "Freedom Network is shocked at murder of woman journalist Shaheena Shaheen and demans @Jamkamal govt to bring perpetrators of crimes to justice."

Shaheena was a morning show host in PTV Bolan, the editor of Balochi Magazine Dazgohar, and an artist. She was a believer in gender equality and campaigned for women's empowerment in the province.
