ISLAMABAD—Jahangeer Aslam Baloch, a reporter for ARY News, has filed a police complaint alleging harassment and illegal detention by the Islamabad Police.
According to the complaint, Jahangeer, accompanied by Dr. Saadia Kamal, a senior journalist and a government officer, visited SP Saddar's office to discuss an unresolved accident case. The accused, Shahzad Satti, was also present during the meeting.
In his complaint, Jahangeer stated that Shahzad Satti harassed and threatened them during the meeting, and when he tried to de-escalate the situation, SP Saddar ordered his arrest and physical assault. Jahangir claims he was detained for two hours, beaten, and threatened with false drug charges. His mobile phone was forcibly confiscated, and he was taken to the police station where the threats continued.
Dr. Kamal was involved in an accident on April 30, 2024, where her car was hit by Shehzad Satti, a money changer from Kotli Sattian. Despite the passage of over two months, Satti had not compensated for the damages and allegedly stole items from Dr. Kamal's car. The police had taken no action against Satti, prompting Baloch and Dr. Kamal to seek an update from SP Saddar's office.
