Join our WhatsApp channelAre you a journalist with a compelling story idea that follows the money but lacks the resources to bring it to life? The McGraw Fellowship for Business Journalism offers grants of up to $15,000 and editorial support to help experienced journalists produce in-depth investigative and enterprise stories with strong financial, business, or economic angles. You don’t need to be a business reporter—journalists covering health, education, or the environment are welcome to apply.
The Spring 2025 Fellowship focuses on the impact of shifting federal policies and spending under the new U.S. administration. The application deadline is April 14, 2025. Freelancers and staff journalists across all media formats—text, audio, photo, and short-form video—are encouraged to apply. Applications for the Fall 2025 Fellowship will be due on October 13, 2025. Time-sensitive projects may be considered outside these deadlines.
The Fellowship is not a residency program; journalists work from their offices. Alongside financial support, the McGraw Center provides editorial guidance and helps place completed stories in established media outlets. Applicants should submit a detailed three-page story pitch, a reporting plan, a resume, and three samples of published work.
Application deadline: April 14, 2025
