The All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) has officially boycotted the Geo-Jang Group, citing its negative portrayal of state institutions. Party officials have warned that the boycott will continue until the media house adopts a pro-state stance.Summary
ISLAMABAD – All Pakistan Muslim League (APML), a party that former President Pervez Musharraf founded, has announced boycott of Geo-Jang group for being anti-state.
BOL News in its program Aisay Nahi Chalay Ga Wednesday quoted party officials as saying the media house was playing a negative role against the state.
APML officials said at a press conference earlier that the Jang Group every now and then was publishing stories against the military, the Supreme Court, the Joint Investigation Team and other institutions.
They said that if the group adopted a state-friendly policy, they would end their boycott.
BOL also aired comments made by Pervez Musharraf a few days ago while talking to program hosts Aamir Liaquat.
He said: “Mir Shakil’s Geo was banned by the Army. I had also banned the channel. Their interviews are partisan, and based on lies. Their anchors do distortion and lie. I have heard that he (Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman, Jang Group owner) is behind all this. He should be taken to task.”
