ISLAMABAD: Dr. Nazir S. Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress (PCC) has strongly condemned an attack on Christian journalist Shamim Masih (pictured) in Islamabad.
He expressed grave concern over delay in registration of First Information Report (FIR) by Police Station I-9 where Shamim submitted a written application.
According to pakistanchristianpost.com Shamim was at a Christian neighborhood, when two unknown men on a motorbike stopped him and threatened him to stop writing on Christian issues.
The motorbike riders then got down from their bike and started beating Shamim leaving him with a broken arm. They warned him that if he did not stop reporting on Christian issues, they would teach him and his family a lesson.
Shamim is associated with a national newspaper and a TV Channel, the website said.
Nazir Bhatti said: “If a Muslim journalist had been attacked, the police would be on their toes to investigate and to arrest the attackers but since Shamim Masih is a Christian journalist that’s why police and administration is not paying any attention in investigating the incident.”
Dr. Nazir demanded immediate registration of FIR and security to Shamim.
