ISLAMABAD – Just days after the arrival of a new editor, The Express Tribune has reportedly fired around 30 employees of their city desks at four centers.
A JournalismPakistan.comsource says among those sacked are city editors, sub-editors, and page makers working in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and Peshawar. In Islamabad alone, at least nine employees have been fired including the city editor and a features writer.
The employees were communicated by a top official Monday that their services were no longer required. They have, however, been assured they will be paid three-month salaries.
The wholesale sackings come after Fahd Hussain took over as editor, replacing Kamal Siddiqi at the start of the month.
