Channel 44 is set to launch as the UK's first Pakistani news channel, replacing Muslim Ummah TV on Sky Digital. It aims to provide comprehensive news coverage for the Asian community in the UK.Summary
ISLAMABAD – Channel 44, the UK’s first Pakistani news channel is due to be launched this month, according to BizAsiaLive.com.
It is owned by the same group that runs Channel 24 and City 42 in Pakistan. The new channel replaces Muslim Ummah TV on Sky Digital. It was reported that a lot of money has been invested in the channel’s London based studios, along with local reporters in London, Birmingham, Manchester and other areas, covering news for all UK Asian communities. All programs will be shot in HD but broadcast in SD.
Channel 44 will focus on current affairs for the Asian demographic locally and will also have news updates from Pakistan. It will be available from September 15. It will rival broadcasters ARY News, Geo News, Samaa TV and Dunya.
