Top news photographer Mujeeb-ur-Rehman passes away
Muhammad Mujeeb-ur-Rehman, a distinguished news photographer with a career spanning nearly five decades, has died at 69. He was known for his impactful coverage of national events and received several awards during his lifetime.

KARACHI: Mujeeb-ur-Rahman, a leading news photographer who was in journalism for almost half a century, passed away Wednesday. He was 69.

According to Dawn, he was the paper's staff member from 1967-2007. After retiring from there, he joined the White Star, a wire photo agency, in 2007 as a senior news photographer and served till 2014.

“He suffered a paralysis attack in 2014 which made him quit the profession. He was already a diabetic and cardiac patient but his health deteriorated fast after the paralysis attack,” Dawn quoted his son Faysal Mujeeb, as saying.

Rahman had an active professional life, witnessing and covering key events of national history. He was awarded the best photographer award by the All Pakistan Newspapers Society twice — in 1983 and 1988. He was also a recipient of the Sindh Governor Award for news photography.
