ISLAMABAD: Agha Nasir, 89, a top broadcaster and former Director General Radio Pakistan and Managing Director Pakistan Television died in Islamabad Tuesday.
He was buried at the H-11 Graveyard where hundreds of his friends, fans and family members were present. Born in 1937 in Mumbai, India, Nasir joined Radio Pakistan in 1955 and made his mark as a broadcaster, writer and producer before television arrived in 1964.
A recipient of the President's Award for Pride of Performance, Nasir produced several top drama serials like Girah and Pani Peh Naam, besides directing Pakistani films. He was also a distinguished writer.
He authored six books, among them 'This is PTV: Another Day, Another World'.
President Mamnoon Hussain condoled Nasir's death and expressed grief and sorrow.
