KARACHI—Karachi police have arrested three fake journalists involved in harassing women and blackmailing the business community.
Police identified the accused as Shoaib Alam, Azhar, and Iqbal.
Reportedly, the accused have confessed that they were involved in the illegal sale of press cards for Rs4,000. Forged documents, bogus credentials, and fake press cards have also been recovered from their possession. They carried out their illegal activities under the name of Sky One News Channel.
Police say that the accused blackmailed traders in Bilal Colony. Besides collecting money, they also harassed women under the guise of journalism.
The cases against fake journalists were registered following a complaint by Aliza Malik and Iram Naeem Farheen.
