These three channels are in seeming trouble
PEMRA has taken action against three channels for airing content deemed derogatory towards the judiciary. The channels are required to respond to the notices by May 2.

ISLAMABAD – Electronic media regulator PEMRA on Thursday served show-cause notices on DawnNews, Channel 24 and BOL News for different violations.

DawnNews aired derogatory remarks against the judiciary in its program ‘News Eye’ by host Meher Bukhari and the guests on April 23.

Channel 24 broadcast anti-judiciary speeches of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in its program ‘Point of View with Dr. Danish.’

The regulator issued two separate notices to BOL – one for airing slogans against the state of Pakistan and insulting Pakistan Army in the program Aisay Nahi Chalay Ga on April 23.

The other notice was for airing unedited, foul language and abusive comments of a man on the street, interviewed by Aamir Liaquat on April 24.

PEMRA has asked all erring channels to respond to the show-cause notices in writing and their officials to appear for a personal hearing on May 2.
