PFUJ Unification Committee assured support for holding elections

ISLAMABAD - The Unification Committee of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) met here Monday under the chairmanship of M. Ziauddin (pictured) who apprised the members about his recent visit to Lahore to forge consensus for the next PFUJ elections.

He expressed his satisfaction that senior journalists, PFUJ veterans and office-bearers of PFUJ had assured their full support to the committee for holding elections.

The Unification Committee members were of the view that a similar consensus should also be achieved in Karachi. The committee authorized chairman Zia uddin and member Shahid-ur-Rehman to visit Karachi to meet veterans, members of PFUJ as well as senior journalists, previous and present KUJ office-bearers to bring them on one page and achieve consensus.

The Committee also formed a sub-committee to draw a questionnaire which would be sent to all unions of journalists (UJs) to seek their comments on the 2013 elections.

The Committee will conduct fresh elections as well as hold an inquiry into the 2013 elections.

The house decided that the election schedule will be issued after the visit of Ziauddin and Rehman to Karachi.
