ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Thursday banned Geo News’ morning show named Geo Pakistan for five days after the channel aired what the regulator said was “objectionable/indecent content.”
The ban comes into effect on Monday, April 3 (starting 9:00 am) and runs until April 7 midnight. The channel was also fined Rs1 million.
Geo had aired a kiss in its morning show on March 15, following which PEMRA issued a show-cause notice giving the news organization 14 days to explain its position.
After hearing Geo representative’s reply, PEMRA concluded the channel had violated Electronic Media Code of Conduct 2015.
