NAB to challenge Mir Shakil-ur-Rehman's acquittal
The National Accountability Bureau has drafted a challenge against the acquittal of Mir Shakil-ur-Rehman in a property case. The NAB argues that key prosecution witnesses have not yet been examined, which could impact the case's outcome.

ISLAMABAD—The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has prepared a draft to challenge the acquittal of Jang-Geo media group owner Mir Shakil-ur-Rehman and two others in a property case.

"The court made a factual mistake by assuming Mir Shakilur Rehman as abettor," the proposed draft pointed out, adding that "As a matter of fact, he was the beneficiary in the case. He was the illegal beneficiary in the case whereas the court has omitted this fact in its judgment."

The NAB contended that 'important prosecution witnesses' are yet to be examined by the court. "Case cannot be decided on merits unless prosecution is afforded an equal opportunity to present its point of view before the court through examination of witnesses and record."

The NAB is expected to challenge the acquittal in the high court this month.
