ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered Jang-Geo Group owner Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman to ensure his presence on Wednesday in a suo motu case relating to delay in disbursement of staff salaries.
Rahman failed to appear before a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Saqib Nisar on Tuesday.
A backache was bothering Rahman, and he could not make it here from Dubai at short notice, the court learned.
Tayyab Baloch, President of Press Association of Supreme Court, had sought the court’s attention to the issue of salaries at the media house where staff remains unpaid for the past three months.
In a hearing at the start of the month, the chief justice had ordered the news organization to pay all staff salaries by April 30.
